From high mass stars to planets

In the last five years the study of the mass function in young star forming regions have reached the planetary mass regime (from ~13 down to 4-5 Jupiter masses). I will summarize some of the most important results in this topic, presenting our more recent work in sigma Orionis, Upper Scorpius and rho Ophiuchi.
